The perfect finish for Golf
Courses, Sports Pitch Construction & Renovation

Trade Members of STRI
Established in 1991, Links
Turf Layers (UK) has been involved in many large scale
Sports Development projects over the years. We offer sports
surface renovation, restoration and construction for sports
clubs and associations, council and local authority facilities,
schools and prisons.
In the early and mid 1990s the majority of our
work was sub-contracting to Golf Course construction companies
across the U.K. As a team of five operatives we were contracted
to prepare and turf golf green surrounds, golf tees and bunker
faces.
We are CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) registered, and approved by Constructionline under the National Pre-Qualification Service (Reg No. 56344) for Landscape sports facilities and playgrounds (partnering), sports grounds (grass) and sports ground (grass) term contracts.
Clients included: Trent
Lock Golf Club, Mendip Springs Golf Club, Transcontinental Golf
(Jack Nicklaus Golf Services) at both the London Golf Club,
Kent and Gainsborough Golf Club, Lincolnshire.
We expanded our services to include full preparation
and implementation for both Grass Seeding and Turf Laying projects.
We expanded our equipment to include a selection of New Holland compact
tractors, precision seeders, RotaDairon stone-burying cultivators, specialist
soil cultivation, preparation and levelling equipment. We were
subsequently sub-contracted on many new Golf courses including:
Waltham Windmill, Thirsk & Northallerton, Forrest Pines
and Vale Royal Abbey (Cheshire).
Since the latter part of the 1990s there has been
an increasing focus on sports facilities, encouraging families
to rediscover football, hockey, rugby etc. Many existing sports
pitches needed re-evaluating and were either improved or re-developed
by Links Turf Layers (UK).
Our specialist knowledge and
equipment that evolved from high class golf course development
makes Links Turf Layers (UK) perfectly placed to offer competitive
rates and quality services for a variety of sport applications.
We always strive to exceed recognised industry standards, and
constantly review our equipment and material selection to ensure
optimum results.

Recent
projects find LTL (UK) working in Oxfordshire, Nottinghamshire,
Leicestershire, and as far North as Kilmarnoch. Local sport
clients include Brigg Town F.C., Bottesford Town F.C., Cleethorpes
Rugby Club, Market Rasen Rugby Club and Grimsby Town F.C.
We have also worked on several Prison Sports Facilities
and on the construction / re-construction of School Sports Fields.
Links Turf Layers (UK) knows best how to deal with a wide range
of soil types, locations and practical problems.
Turf Laying provides an instant playing surface
or quick reinstatement of damaged areas. We have undertaken
extensive turf laying works on new golf courses, where quick
establishment or soil stabilisation have justified the additional
investment. Bowling Greens and Golf Tees have also been part
of our work as has goal mouth and wear area reinstatement on
football pitches.
Links Turf Layers (UK) always uses only TGA-approved
turf from commercial turf producers. Our compact tractor
& stone-burrier combination allows us to efficiently deal
with a multitude of soil types, alleviating surface compaction,
grading and levelling the soil creating the optimum seed bed.
Professional finishing techniques and turf laying methods ensure
quick turf establishment and a smooth playing surface.
Grass Seeding offers many clients the opportunity
to select a grass seed mixture and work programme to suit their
budget, especially when time constraints are not so tight.
"Growing your own turf " on site requires
a lot more commitment to a project than turf laying but there
are significant cost savings and advantages for the client.
With years of experience in many applications, Links Turf Layers
(UK) has perfected our service to include:
- Appraisal
- Initial site preparation
- Spraying
- Cultivation and preparation
- Quality grass seeding or turf laying
- First cut
- Aftercare advice
- Follow up visits
We have a comprehensive range of professional
equipment for all aspects of the work, and with long established
links to specialist contractors for Earth Works and Drainage
Installations should a client need their services.
The key to establishing a quality surface when
seeding is undoubtedly good preparation, proven finishing methods
and quality materials. Whether the soil type is stony or not,
our stone-burier / soil renovating machines create outstanding
results in even the harshest of conditions. Seeded areas typically
take six to nine weeks to first cut; in many cases and with
favourable weather conditions, some new sports fields have needed
cutting at five to six weeks from seeding. In the majority of
cases we are asked to carry out initial maintenance, usually
two or three cuts together with fertiliser applications and
selective herbicide treatments.
ALL of our clients receive the same comprehensive
service, from a fully detailed site appraisal and quotation
through to aftercare information and follow up visits.
