Evolution from the demanding
world of professional golf course construction
Links Turf Layers (UK) was
established in 1991 by Stephen Hodson, after qualifying with
an H.N.D. at The Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.
In the early years the majority of our work was
out of the County, laying turf on large-scale golf course construction
projects across the UK. Typically operating as a team of five
turf layers, we were involved with some high profile projects
including: The London Golf Club, Kent (Jack Nicklaus Golf Services),
Gainsborough Golf Club (Transcontinental Golf), and Vale Royal
Abbey Golf Course, Cheshire.
Working on these prestigious projects enabled
our services to evolve, incorporating the techniques needed
to achieve the ultimate standards demanded by golf course construction.
The specialist equipment required for this work
also proved very successful in other applications. For example,
the professional stone-burying cultivators, which we have now
operated for more than 10 years, created outstanding results
whatever the soil type or location.
With our detailed understanding of precision "Amenity
area" grass seeding, we then utilised the same principles
and techniques in other applications. We were not only able
to provide a quality Turf Laying service, but also the option
of "Growing your own turf " using our expertise, equipment
and techniques to successfully seed areas to a high standard.
Over the years, we have worked on a wide variety
of projects including Golf Courses, Sports Fields, Prisons,
Hospitals, Schools, Property Developments, Private Homes and
airports.
Our current Client List includes local builders
and Property Developers, Civil Engineering companies, Sports
clubs and Associations, Nationwide construction companies, Specialist
Contractors and Amenity Developers.
